Telford & Wrekin Hockey Club's U12 boys' and girls' teams both travelled to Nottingham at the weekend to compete in the prestigious Midlands Finals.
The U12 girls faced the challenge of competing with a few key players absent from their squad. Despite this, the team displayed fantastic resilience and showed significant improvement as the tournament progressed. Their determination shone through in their final two matches, where they secured a well-deserved win and a draw, ultimately finishing in 13th place overall. The club extends a massive thank you to Dani for her dedicated coaching throughout the season and on the day of the finals.
The U12 boys also showcased their talent and competitive spirit. In the group stage, they narrowly lost a close fought match against Repton 2-1 in the final seconds, resulting in a second-place finish in their group. This set up a challenging quarter-final encounter against Belper, who had topped their group. In another tight contest, Telford narrowly missed out on a semi-final spot, losing 1-0 to the eventual finalists and winners.
Undeterred by this setback, the boys rallied impressively for their 5th/6th place play-off against Ashby. Demonstrating great character and teamwork, they bounced back with a decisive 3-0 victory, ending their day on a significant positive note. The club extends a massive thank you to Matt and Adam for their coaching efforts throughout the season and to Matt for his guidance on the day.
The performances of both the U12 boys' and girls' teams at the Midlands Finals are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the excellent coaching they have received. The club is incredibly proud of their achievements and the positive manner in which they represented Telford & Wrekin Hockey Club.
