Abseil at Edgmond

The club is going to hold an Abseil at Edgmond, just before the hockey season gets under way and is a great opportunity to get the new seasons fund raising off to a great start.

The abseil down the 90' Tower of St Peter’s Church Edgmond has been arranged for Saturday 8th September 2012.

This will be run by leaders from Shropshire Scouts who are fully qualified and experienced in running abseils at this location.

There will also be an opportunity to play hockey on grass at the Church Field – details of the match plans will be made available shortly.

The Club is running a licensed bar and BBQ on site, food and drink will be available throughout the day. Your registration fee includes a free burger or hot dog.

There are no age restrictions (lower or upper) and previous abseils have attracted those as young as 5 and as old as 89. Abseiling will take place from 0930 to 1300 and from 1330 to
1730.

There will be two adjacent abseil positions on the Tower so you can choose to descend with
someone else.

You need to get sponsored to make the abseil. The minimum recommended level of sponsorship is £25 per abseiler but you should aim to go for much more than that. The allocation of funds raised and profits from the bar and BBQ is as follows:- 

60% to the Club,

30% to the Shropshire Historic Churches Trust,

and 10% to Shropshire Scouts.

You need to register that you wish to abseil on September 8th.  Once registered, you will receive confirmation of your time slot, your sponsorship forms, and other important details. There is a non-refundable registration fee of £5 per person abseiling. If the event is postponed due to weather conditions or other unforeseen causes the deposit will be carried over to a future date when the abseil would be held.
